Many Utah ski areas had at least 6 feet of snow in the past week. Alta had the most with 84 inches of snow. Avalanche mitigation and high winds forces some ski and snowboard areas to close over the weekend.
Warning that avalanches are happening in "unusual areas," Utah experts are emphasizing that although storms have moved through, the danger of a slide remains high.
Much of Utah is under high avalanche risk, with road closures already happening in parts of the state. An avalanche closed part of Weber County’s North Ogden Divide. Strong winds are complicating efforts to improve conditions.
