West Palm Beach Officer Dena Concheso remembers the first time she saw 7-year-old Anai Reymundo smile since the crash.
Concheso said in the weeks after the crash, she’d visit the children, who were taken in by the family’s pastor, to check in and bring them things to help them get by: diapers for baby Moses, small gifts for the children, anything donated to the department as more and more people learned of their story.
As little Jessica recovered and gave hugs to Concheso, accompanied by broad smiles, during each visit, Anai finally cracked a grin one day and opened her arms as well.
