With the State to go under complete lockdown from Monday, industries in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts that are in essential sectors or exports will continue to run. Meanwhile, several industries in the two districts also plan to shutdown on a voluntary basis.
A district administration official said that industries permitted in the government order will continue to function. Workers at these units will be allowed to travel to the industries.
In Tiruppur, Raja M. Shanmugham, president of Tiruppur Exporters Association, said the district administration had informed them that workers will not be permitted to come to work places on two-wheelers. Companies can organise transport facilities. “This has been conveyed to the exporting units,” he said.

Micro units welcome State government’s MSME policy

AAA The micro units here have welcomed the MSME policy announced by the State government on Tuesday as it has increased the capital subsidy ceiling.
“This is a welcome move that will help micro units expand,” said J. James, president of Tamil Nadu Association of Cottage and Tiny Enterprises.
The plan of the government to infuse funds into Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC) is another announcement that will benefit the MSMEs, said C. Sivakumar, president of Coimbatore and Tiruppur Districts Micro and Cottage Entrepreneurs Association.
Raja M.Shanmugham, president of Tiruppur Exporters’ Association, said the Industrial and MSME policies will pave way for the growth of industries in the State. The MSME policy focuses on textiles too. The support to industrial housing project will benefit clusters such as Tiruppur.
Industry association heads plan to meet Union Minister

AAA Representatives of industrial associations in Coimbatore plan to meet the Union Steel Minister shortly to explain the problems faced by Micro, Small, and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) because of the exponential rise in raw material prices in the recent weeks.
Heads of the associations that are part of the Joint Council of Associations of Coimbatore told press persons here on Thursday that industries will not be able to continue operations if the price increase continues for a month more.
According to them, prices of steel, copper, stainless steel rods, AMINE gas, PVC resin, aluminium have all increased multi fold.
