Former Clinton spiritual camp could soon become new retiree housing

CLINTON, Iowa One of the most scenic spots in Clinton has a historical past. Land where mediums used to connect with the other side could soon have a new purpose. It s about eight acres a little bit more in the middle of town that used to be a spiritual camp, Mayor Scott Maddasion said.
A spiritual camp founded in the late 1800s, just off what s now North Bluff Blvd.

The slope to Mount Pleasant Park from Ikeâs Peak Road is too steep to safely navigate in winter weather, a Clinton resident told the Clinton City Council on Tuesday. Randy Current urged the City Council to reexamine the plan to access the property from Ikeâs Peak Road before signing an option agreement with the developer.
The vacated spiritualist camp on the bluff at Second Avenue South is the site of a proposed housing development called Cottage Bluff. The City of Clinton approved an option agreement with Davenport developer Chris Ales of Ales & Company Tuesday for the purchase of the property.
