The aggressive elephant also destroyed a house of a transmigrant in Ketubung Tunong Village, Seunagan Timur Subdistrict, but this human-wildlife conflict did not cause casualties among villagers, Tuwi Meuleusong Village Head Arfandi said.
However, this trespassing large land mammal has terrified many residents in the two villages because it has caused them to suffer material losses owing to their damaged food crops, he said.

JAKARTA, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) A Sumatran elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus) has died in the Cot Girek conservation area in North Aceh district of Indonesia s Aceh province, a local official said on Sunday.
Head of Aceh province s Natural Resources Conservation Agency Agus Arianto said the elephant was named Otto aged 25 years old.
A medical team from the agency and Syiah Kuala University in the province has taken samples from the elephant s organs for tests at the Indonesian police s forensic laboratory. As a result of the necropsy, the medical team found that the elephant s intestines were blackened, and infected by endoparasites, Arianto said.
