well, what i can only imagine, homeland security came out that day saying there was not a viable threat. my sense of it, having had the conversations with them, there was enormous pressure put on them by the malls, by the shops in the malls, by the surrounding neighborhoods who were also threatened in those e-mails to say they shouldn t show the picture. and they basically, on the basis of looking at that, they decided that they wouldn t take the picture. does that mean that dvd release also becomes difficult because you would face the same challenge, which is the walmarts and the costcos of the world would have to agree to stock the dvd? again, we don t have a direct interface with the public. we would require either through online or in a retail situation, we would need distribution and yes, it s fair to say if we can t find one of those large retailers or more of those large
secretary joe burton. good morning, gentlemen. co costco s done it and the ceo there supports the minimum wage hike. are republicans either going to need to get onboard or have more of an argument for why not? i think it s going to be a combination of both, and that s going to be the trick that we re going to see unfold over the next few weeks. it s going to start with the idea of making the argument ultimately of how this impacts business. costco has the advantage of being a big box company. it s got a lot of employees, so it can average out, it can leverage out those costs in a way that a small business owner of 50 or 100 employees cannot. and so that s going to be the real sweet spot for this conversation. it s not the costcos of the world going, yeah, let s raise the minimum wage, because they have the ability to pass that cost off on to its consumers in
for groupon here. this is another dotcom, a bricks and mortar type story. they re buying up physical warehouses. they want to start stocking a limited range of goods to take on the kind of costcos of the world, that s the model. amazon like. they ll start selling goods from those warehouses. they want to put the goods in the warehouses. an interesting diversion from how the coupon business started. pretty limited. a.m. amazon is huge though. we ve talked about blackberry s struggles. what s the latest they re trying to do to get things going? yeah, well, the stock is down 19% year to date. maybe blackberry are getting the message and it s all about bbm. it s going to be spun off. it s strange, you know, the new handsets don t seem to have
compete with walmart and kmart and costcos of the world so you can t compete with them dollar-for-dollar so the best thing to do is to compete with them for a short period of time, like an afternoon or a you know, for a few hours. so a couple of quick things about sales, though. they can be dangerous in small towns in small communities and small markets. one thing about sales if you have a 30% margin and you re selling an item for 20% often, you have to sell twice as many of those items to make the same money so if you normally sell ten items to make $100 you ll have to sell 20 to make $100. maybe you use it as a leader to get the people in the door and you wow them with all your other services. i want to move on to the next one. hold an annual grand opening. would that the be weird in the second year to hold a grand open something. well, when you drive down main street all the businesses
juice, it s the weather. a very, very strong factor pushing prices up. from the retail side, absolutely the string of cold weather that is along the eastern seaboard right now, it seems to be sitting there and stationed there for a while is pushing people to the targets, costcos, keeping people away from best buy. best buy is down almost 16% today, they said people are not coming out with the weather. the weather is too bad they are not going out and buying flat-screen tv s. jenna: we can follow the money with you 9:00pm on the business network. eric bolling, thank you for stopping by. jon: we ve been reporting on the drug violence raging in mexico for years. now another nation is fighting to keep its own drug war from getting out of hand. they are doing it with the help of some u.s. special forces. jennifer griffin is streaming live from guatemala city
