NASA s Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) telescope has reached a groundbreaking milestone, capturing the first polarised X-ray images of the supernova remnant SN 1006, a colossal cosmic event.
The explosion, called AT2021lwx, is not the brightest flash ever observed in the universe. That record is still held by a gamma-ray burst in October that was nicknamed BOAT.
