Alan B. McElroy returns to pen the new film which finds a group of friends hiking the Appalachian Trail. Even though they’re warned to stick to the trail, they wander off course, of course. They end up crossing into land inhabited by The Foundation, a hidden community of mountain dwellers who use deadly means to protect their way of life. Suddenly under siege, the friends seem headed to the point of no return, unless one of their fathers (Matthew Modine) can reach them in time.

Wrong Turn: The Foundation hints that we could see some of the antagonists embracing even more sinister outfits in order to pull off their horrifying crimes. While the upcoming film surely aims to revive the popularity of the franchise, which kicked off back in 2003, it s not necessarily a complete remake of the debut installment, instead embracing key components of the series to capture the attention of contemporary audiences.
