In a galaxy far far away there exists a struggle for intergalactic dominance. The forces of good versus the forces of evil. In the world of Star Wars sometimes evil wins. Evil won when Han Solo was captured by Darth Vader. Evil came back stronger when the death star was built, blown up, and rebuilt. This is exactly the case with the 2021 New York Yankees. The 2021 version of the Yankees have a record of 46 and 43, 8 games out of first and good enough for a tie of third place in the AL east. If the season ended today, they would miss the playoffs by 4.5 games. Yankees’ Gary Sanchez loses starting job as Kyle Higahsioka emerges

BALTIMORE Gary Sanchez’s hold of the Yankees’ starting catcher job was going be tenuous until he proved that his terrible 2020 was a fluke.
If you had April 27 as the day Kyle Higashioka would re-emerge to take a chunk out of Sanchez’s playing time, collect your prize at the door.

Boone benched Sanchez in favor of Higashioka with Cory Kluber set to take the mound.
“He’s just earned more playing time,” Boone told reporters. “Simple as that.”
Which was another way of Boone saying that Sanchez has deserved to lose some of his playing time.

Coming off a season in which the Mets’ starting rotation was a liability despite having Jacob deGrom at the top of it, it’s hard not to dream on the potential that the 2021 rotation has. And the ideal version of that rotation includes Noah Syndergaard, who remains on track to return from Tommy John surgery sometime in the middle of the season.
Since the start of his major league career in 2015, Syndergaard has been one of the best pitchers in baseball, something that seems to get lost on some of even the most dedicated observers of Major League Baseball. Among the 77 pitchers who have thrown at least 600 innings since the beginning of the 2015 season, Syndergaard ranks 10th with a 3.31 ERA.
