the brett kavanaugh confirmation hearings tried to make a big show of e-mails he would release against the senate rules. he thought it was that moment and he had the spotlight. this happened. i understand the penalty comes with potential ousting from the senate. if senator cornyn believes i violated the rules, i openly accept that. this is the closest i will have to the i am spartacus moment. i thought it was more obi wan strike me down moment. did it flounder? if this is his entrance to 2020, did it work? no, it did not. if we are talking about lines that missed with president trump, this missed for me. there is no doubt cory booker wants to be president for united states. he has been running for it for
cory booker doesn t think that s true. not 20. at least 19 people not going to be mad at me. but there are not 20. what i think he s trying to signal to the anti-trump resistance is you re mostly on your own but there are some issues i will help you on. the right wing heard it differently. we heard it as you re mostly on your own but there are core issues i will fight for. i think there are much deeper things he was trying to get across here. first of all it goes to the nature of donald trump and how different a president he is than any in our history. and donald trump in his view is ready to decimate those core values. also, when it comes to the press, he is talking about the fact that, the sub rosea message here is that donald trump has already tried to make the conduct of the press the issue, will continue to do so, rather than the conduct of donald trump. same thing that richard nixon did. it is a very effective tactic and i think the president was
respectful of one another and tone down the hyperbole. let us be honest. the habit of tarring one s political opponents with a lot of adjectives and insults didn t start with donald trump. he may do it differently and tweet about it and let s face it, 140 characters means you have a lot of hyperbole and a lot of adjectives, but he is not the first person to insult a political opponent. i have to say i understand that you don t agree with jeff sessions and his policy positions. that s your right as a citizen. i understand that cory booker doesn t agree with jeff sessions. that s his right. that s a very different thing for cory booker to say he is unqualified. he is clearly qualified. he has overseen the committee. i have to stop you. i have to pay my bills. he is qualified. i have to pay my bills. we are going to get it on when
