how do things look where you are, kerry? reporter: well, alex, here in victoria you can see some of the damage here. this was sort of a garage, corrugated tin, that s come down in the winds. yes, a category 1, but even with a category 1 damage, one of the big problems is the amount of rain that s being dropped. you can see right here the water is puddling. we ve seen about 16 inches of water drop so far. to give you some perspective, if you took the rainfall in this area for the whole year, it would be about 32 inches, so just in a little more than 16 hours, we have seen half a year s rain come down here in the greater victoria area. the concern of course is for people s safety. and right now it appears, although it s not conclusive, but it appears that there have been no serious injuries or deaths associated with the hurricane here in victoria. they opened up two shelters.
