our political correspondent helen catt. zimbabwe s president, emmerson mnangagwa, has been re elected to serve a second term with just over half of the total vote. the opposition claims there has been widespread vote rigging, and international observers say the vote has fallen short of democratic standards. well, mr mnangagwa, known as the crocodile which referes to his ruthless nature has been speaking in the past hour. he said he is humbled by the confidence that zimbabweans have shown him. in an address on sunday morning, president mnagwagwa described the country s election as fair and peaceful. our correspondent shingai nyoka is in harare and has more on the election result. so these election results were announced, they were announced last night. president emmerson mnangagwa won close to 53% of the votes. his main rival, the citizen coalition for change opposition leader nelson chamisa, got 44% of the votes.
