The international organisations emphasised the “global leadership” that the Kingdom has been playing in the field of human rights since the start of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s reform era and the National Action Charter inauguration as part of its twentieth-anniversary celebrations.
In their statement, they highlighted Bahrain’s achievements such as working to promote and respect human rights, striving to establish a state of institutions and law, promoting democracy and popular participation, and reinforcing international obligations that allow everyone to exercise their rights and freedoms guaranteed by international legislation.
DT News: Does the ministry have any plans to benefit from or recycle the excavated rainwater?
Eng. Khalaf: The storm water is usually discharged in the sea and other areas. We had attempted to inject it in the under- ground water in a couple of sites across the Kingdom. But recycling also is only done if strict rules are followed. The Supreme Council for the Environment had some environ- mental reservations in regards to this process as they had some concerns over water pollution suspicions, hence the processes were stopped and further discussions are in progress. But, we utilise it in irrigation purposes.

Labour and Social Development Minister, and Chairman of the National Childhood Committee, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, today paid an inspection visit to the Child Protection Centre in Manama.
The visit is part of the minister’s follow-up on the centre’s efforts to deal with cases of abuse, violence or negligence that children may face.
The minister is also keen to verify the quality of the services and procedures in place to protect children, treat them and reintegrate them into society to lead a normal life, within a secure family environment, being as an inherent right guaranteed to them in the kingdom.

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s commitment towards furthering Bahrain’s compliance with international conventions of human rights received a slew of appreciations yesterday from top UN officials.
Appreciating Bahrain’s action in protecting the Children were Mohamed El Zarkani, the United Nations Resident Coordinator, Roueida El Hage, the regional representative of OHCHR, Dr Hatem Aly, the UNODC Representative for the Gulf region, and Eltayeb Adam, the UNICEF Representative to the Gulf Area.
“Momentous step” El Zarkani called the ratification and issuance of the Corrective Justice Law for Children by Bahrain as a “momentous step” showcasing commitment towards furthering compliance with international conventions on human rights, warranting restorative justice, and safeguarding the lives of children from mistreatment.
