Yenchun Chen, 44, was nabbed around 6:15 a.m. inside a building on 45th Avenue – about half a mile from his own home in Long Island City, cops and law enforcement sources said.
Seven stabbings and slashings were reported between Friday and Monday in the George R. Vierno Center, a jail with a rough capacity of 1,300 detainees, correction sources told the Daily News.
Critics cited the turnover at the upper levels of the Correction Department as further evidence that Commissioner Louis Molina is doing the bidding of the powerful jail unions.
