CHENNAI: As part of the city corporation s Singara Chennai 2.0 initiative, the city s beaches may soon get a makeover under the Project Blue project.
According to a corporation official, introducing beach vending carts was one of the proposals along with creating a shady and calming pathway along the service road for walkers and joggers.
With inclusivity being a major part of the project, enabling access for Persons with Disabilities to the waves and setting up viewing decks will also be a part of the beach development project, said officials.
Along with this, ideas were floated for a water fountain on the Adyar river, visible from the Western side of the Thiru Vi Ka Nagar bridge.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday donated 20 oxygen concentrators to Corporation Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi on behalf of his Kolathur Assembly constituency.
On May 24, Minister for Medical and Family Welfare Ma. Subramanian and Minister of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department P.K. Sekar Babu chaired a COVID-19 MP and MLAs’ review meeting at the Greater Chennai Corporation. During the meeting, it was decided that three MPs and 22 MLAs in the Corporation limits could donate 20 oxygen concentrators each a total of 500.
Based on this decision, Mr. Stalin donated the equipment on behalf of the Kolathur constituency. Minister for Electricity V. Senthil Balaji and Mr. Sekar Babu were present.

Resident welfare associations and companies have been requested to make arrangements for vaccination of persons, with the support of Chennai Corporation
The Greater Chennai Corporation has started special vaccination camps at 200 locations, giving priority to residents in the age group of 18-44 years. Residents aged above 45 will also be administered the vaccine at the special camps, which will function in addition to the primary health centres.
Chennai Corporation Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi has ordered officers in all zones to increase the number of vaccinations to 30,000 every day.
