Burns Jr., 85, of New Canaan, passed away suddenly on March 10, 2017, in Naples, Fla.  Mr. Burns was born on June 27, 1931 in Cambridge, Mass., the eldest son of John Joseph Burns, the son of Irish immigrants and a Massachusetts Superior Court judge, and Alice Blake Burns of Malden, Mass. Mr. Burns was a graduate of Boston College, where he played football, and went on to receive an MBA from Harvard Business School. He then served in the U.S. Navy for two years as storekeeper on the destroyer USS Purdy.
