Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccines Approved For Children Aged 12-15
As India witnessed a steady fall in the number of daily coronavirus cases, there are speculations that a third wave can soon hit the country which can be fatal for the children. According to the experts, vaccines are the only key to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus infection. Following several reports of the third wave and to contain the virus from affecting the children, the United Kingdom (UK) approved Pfizer/BoiNTech coronavirus vaccine for use in children aged between 12 and 15 years. The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was authorized by US regulators in late December for people age 16 and older. Earlier, Moderna and Pfizer have released data suggesting that their vaccines are well tolerated in adolescents and highly effective in preventing COVID-19. Canada, the US, and the EU have already authorized the Pfizer vaccine in children as young as 12.
