Daily coronavirus updates: Masks unnecessary in small groups outdoors for vaccinated people, Gov. Ned Lamont says; COVID-19 cases slowing in Connecticut Alex Putterman, Hartford Courant © Provided by Hartford Courant
Connecticut residents who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no longer need to wear masks outdoors in small groups, Gov. Ned Lamont said Tuesday, echoing guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC recommended Tuesday that fully vaccinated people may remove their masks outdoors in most circumstances but should continue to wear them at crowded gatherings such as concerts or sporting events.
“The CDC is able to make this announcement because our scientists are convinced by the data that the odds of getting or giving the virus to others is very, very low if you’re both and fully vaccinated and out in the open air,” President Joe Biden said.
