Germany implemented new curbs to combat coronavirus, with Chancellor Angela Merkel warning the measures are urgently needed. India reported its highest number of new infections and deaths on Saturday. The nation air-lifted oxygen supplies from abroad for its hard-pressed hospitals.

India’s health ministry on Tuesday confirmed 161,736 new cases and 879 deaths, taking the total to 13,689,453 cases (1,264,698 active cases) and 171,058 fatalities.
Worldwide, over 137.28 million infections and 2,959,324 fatalities are confirmed.
According to Oxford University’s Our World in Data website, 788.19 million vaccine doses have been administered across the world. In India, according to the health ministry, 108,533,085 vaccine doses have been administered till Monday.

Regeneron’s antibody cocktail prevents symptomatic Covid
A cocktail of monoclonal antibodies developed by Regeneron reduces the risk of symptomatic Covid-19 by 81%, phase 3 trial data shows.

The Phase 3, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial assessed the effect of the drug on uninfected individuals without SARS-CoV-2 antibodies or any Covid-19 symptoms, who lived in the same household as an individual who tested positive within the prior 4 days.

Last year, cell phone data showed that people across the city were at home throughout the day a little more than half of the time. Once social distancing guidelines and the statewide stay-at-home order took effect, that number jumped to nearly 80%.
Arwady said last April that the city was working with health data company BlueDot to use anonymous location data from cell phones across the city to track movements.

There are now just 28 Massachusetts communities at the highest risk of coronavirus transmission, 38 fewer than last week, health officials said Thursday. It s the sixth straight week that number has fallen.
Thursday s town-by-town coronavirus risk data which classifies communities risk level on a scale from red, the highest, to grey puts 66 cities and towns in the red zone, from 66 last week. It s a remarkable drop from the peak, 229 communities in the red zone in mid-January, that mirrors a dip in the state s metrics as the latest surge subsides.
