COVID-19 new curbs: 50% of migrant workers in Pune plan to leave for hometowns
At least 50% of the itinerant workers in Pune are planning to leave for their native states amid new curbs announced by the city administration to stem the rise in COVID-19 cases

There are approx. 8,500 hotels and restaurants in Pune. Around 60,000 workers are from the labour class who earn their wages from the city s restaurant and hotel industry
Around 50% of migrant labourers in Pune, Maharashtra are planning to leave for their native states due to the closure of restaurants, bars, and restaurants in the city in the wake of spiraling COVID-19 cases, said Ganesh Shetty, President, Pune Hoteliers Association (PHA).
