The Silver Strand Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) concluded its annual Letters to the Troops Project. Each year, students from participating schools were invited to write a short letter expressing their gratitude to our military men and women for the job they do protecting our country and the personal sacrifices they make.
This year, despite the unique learning environment our schools are operating under, over 500 letters were submitted by students from Coronado Middle School, Coronado Village and Strand Elementary schools, Christ Church Day School, Sacred Heart Parish School, from St. Charles Catholic School in South San Diego, Imperial Beach, and from students enrolled the Coronado High School Junior Naval Reserve Officer Training Course (JNROTC) Program. From each school four letters were acknowledged with the award of a first and second place gift certificate, and two letters were acknowledged with Honorable Mention recognition.
