Pune: The spike in fresh Covid cases in the past two weeks seems to have provided a much-required push to the Covid vaccination drive in the city.
PMC has got a 62% rise in the last eight days. The civic body has provided 45,847 doses to recipients till now of which 28,220 doses were provided in the first month from January 16-February 15 while 17,627 doses were provided in the last eight days with a maximum of 4,597 on February 24.

As many as 660 beneficiaries have received vaccine shot against COVID-19 in Pune, till 1 pm on Saturday, according to District Administration, Pune.
As many as 32 people at District Hospital Sindh have been vaccinated for COVAXIN while the rest all were vaccinated for COVISHIELD here.
There are 39 vaccination centers in Pune and the district has received 1,11,000 COVID vaccine doses.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched India s vaccination drive against the novel coronavirus via video conferencing.
By yesterday evening, Covid doses had reached the 17 vaccination centres across the PMR. The Aundh district hospital is the centre which would offer Covaxin.

Pune: The shipment of Serum Institute of India’s Covishield set out from the city to other parts of the country yesterday morning, beginning the largest rollout of a vaccine in India’s history.
Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad, the four main regional depots for Covid vaccines, got their amount of Covishield doses by 10 hours since their dispatch started from Serum premises at 4:30 am yesterday. The transport exercise for the remaining doses would continue till this evening, a senior Serum official told the Times of India.

Pune: A command centre set up at the Centre’s aviation cargo wing, AAICLAS in the city will track vaccine movement across more than 40 major locations.
The 41 airports or metros where transportation efforts would be focused include Karnal, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, each of which has a Government Medical Stores Depot of the Centre’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The vaccines would be further disbursed across 37 state depots.
