Hyderabad: The city accounts for 65% of the worldwide vaccine supply and ‘it is well equipped to play a key role in battling any health crisis that humanity faces in the future’.
These were the words of Krishna Ella, CMD of Bharat Biotech International Ltd, according to a report in the
Times of India. He was speaking following awarded the Genome Valley Excellence Award for this year at the first session of the BioAsia 2021 summit. The programme, organised by the state government, is one of the biggest meetings of life sciences companies and scholars in India.

Hyderabad: It has been one month since the Covid vaccination drive was launched in the state. From January 16 to February 16, 2, 79,518 healthcare and frontline staff have received the first dose.
The number of targeted beneficiaries was six lakh. Of them, 53,144 HCWs have got the second dose. 133 cases of AEFI were recorded, including 65 minor and two serious cases, said details given in media bulletins issued by the health department.
The total percentage of recipients to have got Covishield vaccine till yesterday in Telangana was at 58, including government and private healthcare staff.

Hyderabad: Nizamia Hospital’s head nurse, a 57-year-old lady, has tested positive for Covid days after getting the vaccine.
The lady got the vaccine on January 18 at Nizamia. According to the
Hans India, later, she complained of loss of taste, fever, dizziness etc. After taking RAT for Covid, the lady was declared positive on January 28. Before receiving the vaccine, she had never contracted Covid despite the fact that during the lockdown, Nizamia was designated as treatment centre of level-I for Covid suspected cases.
