261 people have died and rescue operations have been completed following a train crash in Odisha involving three trains. Prime Minister Modi has chaired a high-level meeting to review the situation and is scheduled to visit the site of the accident and Cuttack hospital.
The Coromandel Express train accident in Odisha that killed close to 300 people and injured over 900 may have been caused by human error, according to initial reports from the signalling control room.
At least 261 people died and more than 900 were injured after 10-12 coaches of the Chennai-bound Coromandel Express derailed near Balasore in Odisha on Friday night and fell on an adjacent track in the path of the train that Jain was travelling on.
Apart from the Balasore district hospital, the Soro hospital also saw injured patients rushing in, and both hospitals resembled a war-zone. The injured have been rushed to Balasore, Soro, Bhadrak, Jajpur hospital and SCB Medical College in Cuttack.
