Coastal towns also survived the worst of the weather, however there was some flooding in the square in Bantry earlier this morning.
Director of Services with Cork City Council David Joyce says there were some roads affected but nothing too major: All businesses in the city centre will be able to open on time and Cork City will be open today for Christmas shopping/. We ve avoided the crisis as I ve said there was a number of roads that were badly affected this morning, where you had four lane roads go to one way and we re very grateful for the Gardaí for the assistance they gave in relation to managing the traffic.
