After cancellation of the Kenora Bass International last year due to the pandemic, the Board of Directors has announced KBI will be back this year, with a few changes to registering and for now, the weigh-ins.
Co-chair Cori Libitka explained how registration will take place. Between June 1 at 8:00am and June 4 at 8:00pm, anyone who registers and pays in full during those four days, will be entered into a draw for starting positions. We just decided we re going to open it for those four days, really encourage everybody who wants to fish, to do it within those first four days, so they can hopefully have a good starting position. At 8:01pm on June 4, and later, they ll just be added to the bottom of the pile, she says.

Cori Libitka is one of the co-chairs of the KBI Board of Directors and tells us that things will have to be different this time around.
“It’s likely going to have to be really modified,” says Libitka, “…we’ve decided that we’re going to focus on the angler side of things and worry a little bit less about all the other stuff that we do under the tent.”
With the Northwestern Health Unit currently under the Yellow level of the Province’s COVID-19 response framework, she explains that the board isn’t comfortable encouraging people to gather in large groups.
