Plas to convert part of a shop in Maidenhead in order to create four new properties have been turned down by the council. Developers had hoped to convert part of the retail unit at 1A Cordwallis Road in order to create the properties. The premises were previously occupied by McEvoy and Rowley. If the plan had been given the green light, just 24.4 square metres of the ground floor would be available for the shop on the ground floor. Currently, the shop occupies 150 square metres on the ground floor and 77.5 square metres on the first floor. This was one of the reasons that the plan was rejected by planning officers, who raised concerns about the lack of available retail space in the modified shop.
