hello, jim, not just people watching parade, but participants in the parade. you remember that a lot of these marching bands are high school students and they re wearing the heavy uniforms made out of wool, the hats and the bass drums and the tuba. we have a whole bunch of young people there just enjoying the cooling tower that the d.c. fire department has put up, trying to get everybody cooled off as they try to get everyone in a safe situation down here because it has been a situation where temperatures have reached very dangerous conditions. i am joined by pete perringer, d.c. fire and ems. can you tell us what the preparations were for heat and normally, i mean, this is like the fourth of july. it couldn t be 50 degrees and raining. liquid gold proved its worth, but we had a couple of cooling stations where the paid pa raid started. of course, they were staged and i don t know how long before the parade and by the time the parade ended at about three or four hours later
