Since its inception in the 1990s, Downsound Records (DSR) has consistently sought to highlight emerging talent on its projects. Among the acts that the label has brought from obscurity to fame are Nanko, I-Maroon, Fantan Mojah and Jah Cure among others.
The label continues its thrust in highlighting newcomers with a 12-track project, the Storm Trooper rhythm. Released on February 26, this is the first rhythm project for the label in five years.
“In this period of uncertainty which is the new normal we threw out this rhythm and put some focus and emphasis behind some new talent. We look forward to seeing how they develop and the response they get,” said Downsound CEO Josef Bogdonavich.
