Lots of animals can count past two. Honeybees remember the number of landmarks on their way to troves of nectar. Gray wolves "know" they need six to eight members of the pack to hunt elk, but nine to 13 if they are going after bison.
People and more people. It took 200,000 years to get to the first billion (1800). Population was two billion when I was born in 1930. Today it is eight billion. In one lifetime, world population has tripled!
The holiday season is upon us, with Christmas carols ringing from every side. An aroma of pumpkin spice permeates the atmosphere as Mrs. Claus works on her Christmas baking. That jolly old elf Santa Claus is making his lists of toy trains and Barbie dolls for all the good little boys and girls.
There are words I wish the human race would decide to forget. Not just the words. but the ancient emotions behind them. We could start with retaliation, retribution, and revenge.
