Summer Reading Club being kicked off this week

The kick-off is happening June 29 in City Centre Park, and Coralee Danyluk, the children s programmer for the Yorkton Public Library, said that TD would once again help them put on the club.   TD has put this on every year and has provided us with a story walk to put on, she said. The kids can come down, read the story as they stroll along and stop at the desk and get set up for their summer reading club. Danyluk said that the club is open to all ages and that it will look a little different compared to previous years, but the goal will remain the same, to get kids to read throughout the summer.

Story Stroll returns to Logan Green

The walk, this year using the book ‘Plant the Tiny Seed’ by Christie Matheson, has portions of the book on ‘story boards’ along the Logan Green pathways. As people walk the path they can read the story, and at each ‘station’ there are activities to do, making the story and walk more interactive, explained Danyluk. While the walk is open for all, Danyluk said the story is ideal for youngsters up to age seven, or eight, making it a great outing for parents or grandparents and their children. This year the stroll is being enhanced by a ‘Grab & Grow’ kit.
