Dozens of children across the Copperas Cove, Killeen, Fort Hood and Harker Heights area got down to business selling lemonade and lemon-themed treats as part of Lemonade Day weekend.
There were several stands set up throughout Copperas Cove Saturday and Sunday.
Davira Rios, a first grader at Clements/Parsons Elementary, held her lemonade stand, called Davira’s Lemonade, at her house on Sunday afternoon. This was her third year participating in Lemonade Day, and she was excited to be able to make money selling lemonade. Davira sold lemonade and cherry limeade along with cupcakes and cake pop bites for donations.
Hundreds of people lined up in the parking lot of Christian House of Prayer in Copperas Cove Saturday â some about an hour prior to the beginning of a monthly mobile food pantry.
The Refuge Mobile Food Pantry has served the area for several years and is part of The Refuge Corporation based in Copperas Cove.
For several Cove residents waiting in line, the mobile pantry is a blessing.
Myiisha Fite said she has been to the mobile pantry before, and explained what has kept her coming back.
âThey give good stuff,â Fite said. âAnd, I only come when I need it for my family.â

COPPERAS COVE, Texas A Texas man reportedly stabbed his wife and their two children to death over the weekend, and laid in bed with the three dead bodies, authorities said.
Officers responded to Bryan Richardson’s home in Copperas Cove Saturday night on a welfare check, and found him covered in blood laying next to his dead wife, Kiera, and their two young children, WFTV reported.
Copperas Cove police officers asked Richardson what happened and he responded he didn’t know, according to a criminal complaint obtained by KWTX-TV.
Investigators also found a blood-covered kitchen knife on a table, an empty six pack of beer and an empty bottle of prescribed antidepressants, the complaint says.
