In May, an off-duty officer shot at a woman multiple times during an incident of suspected road rage, and he has now been indicted by a Coryell County grand jury.
According to a report from the Killeen Daily Herald, the former Copperas Cove Police Officer Eric Anthony Stoneburner, 45, was indicted for a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident took place on May 23, when a woman named Lacresha Murray was on her way to the hospital after she suddenly became ill. Murray performed a U-turn in the street to head towards AdventHealth-Central Texas Hospital in Killeen. After the U-turn, Murray stated that Stoneburner whipped in front of her, and then proceeded to drive very slowly.

COPPERAS COVE, TX â A Copperas Cove police officer involved in a shooting incident while off-duty has resigned and been arrested, Copperas Cove Police Chief Eddie Wilson announced Friday.
Around 12:40 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, a female driver was traveling westbound on Robertson Avenue approaching then off-duty officer Eric Stoneburner, who was traveling eastbound.
According to Copperas Cove PD, the woman turned her vehicle across both lanes of traffic, appearing to try and back into a driveway in the 900 block of Robertson Avenue.
Stoneburner yielded as she backed toward the driveway. Authorities say he decided to drive past the front space of the vehicle once space presented itself.

COPPERAS COVE, Texas Copperas Cove Police Chief Eddie Wilson said Friday morning an officer who shot a woman over the weekend was charged with aggravated assault and has since resigned.
Wilson said Eric Stoneburner was off-duty when he shot Lacresha Murray Sunday in the 1500 block of Robertson Ave.
Stoneburner was also charged with causing serious bodily injury and use of a deadly weapon.
Wilson said Murray was driving west headed toward Stoneburner who was driving east. Wilson said Murray turned across traffic and appeared to try to back into a driveway.
U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, R-Austin, held a round table meeting Wednesday with local elected officials, military veterans and law enforcement officers at the offices of the Heart of Texas Defense Alliance in Killeen.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss challenges specific to Fort Hood, the military, the military community and other topics important to the participants. Some of the topics discussed included the upcoming renaming of Fort Hood, sexual harassment/sexual assaults on post, funding for quality of life programs and the rising cost of living for soldiers and their families.
Some of those in attendance included Killeen Mayor Jose Segarra, Harker Heights Councilwoman Linda Nash, Copperas Cove Police Chief Eddie Wilson, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army Jean Shine and Heart of Texas Defense Alliance Director Keith Sledd, a retired Army colonel.
