Rawalpindi : Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday said that 80 per cent construction work of Mother and Child Hospital (M&CH) has been completed while remaining hopefully would be completed within six months.
Talking to the media during a visit along with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan to inspect the ongoing work at the site, he said the 400-bed hospital will be the first state-of-the-art facility of its kind in the country to have modern cancer treatment centre.
The minister said two city mega projects include Nullah Leh and Mother and Child hospital would be completed soon.

The government is all set to implement a health levy on cigarettes from the coming fiscal year to discourage smoking, boost revenues and reduce the number of non-communicable diseases caused by the use of tobacco like cancer, diabetes and stroke.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Public Health, Dr Faisal Sultan, said that his ministry was working to incorporate the health levy bill on cigarettes into the upcoming Finance Bill to implement it across the country.
Pakistan to receive 19m Covid vaccine doses by June: Dr Faisal
Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Faisal Sultan said on Monday that Pakistan expected to receive 19 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines by the first half of the ongoing year.
“We expect to receive 19 million doses of Covid vaccines by the first half of the current year,” Dr Sultan said while addressing a press conference at the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) this afternoon.
The SAPM stated that the government has signed agreements to receive 30 million doses of the vaccines, adding that the process will continue in phases.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said on Tuesday that a significant improvement had been seen in standard operating procedures (SOPs) compliance to control spread of novel coronavirus after stronger enforcement measures including military deployment took place.
“National average compliance has doubled from 34 per cent on April 25 to 68 per cent on May 3,” he said in his tweet.
