The European Union’s GDPR was a double-edged sword that protected privacy not just for the region but for the rest of the world but at the expense of some inconveniences. Website administrators had a hell of a time implementing compliance and users now get welcomed by messages asking their permission to enable cookies. These can get pretty annoying or even downright confusing which is why Vivaldi is bringing its Cookie Crumbler feature to Android to pretty much block most of those cookies and their dialogs altogether.

Browsing the web from a European Internet connection has become a huge pain in the neck for so many people, and it’s all because users are bombarded with cookie warnings whenever they load a new website.
Fortunately, skilled developers out there have already created extensions that help us deal with the whole thing, but if you’re using Vivaldi, the most recent update comes with such capabilities built in.
Called Cookie Crumbler, the new feature is not enabled by default, but you can give it a try by enabling it manually in the browser. You can find it under Vivaldi’s menu Settings Privacy Tracker and Ad blocking Manage Sources Ad blocking sources.

Vivaldi announced today that it’s updating the desktop and Android versions of its Vivaldi browser with the ability to block annoying cookie preference pop-ups. Thanks to the passage of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you’ve probably had to click through at least one dialog box asking if you’d like to manage how a site tracks you. Vivaldi’s new update lets you avoid those notifications with some major caveats while theoretically still keeping you safe from tracking.
