Grand Valley State student’s death ruled accidental

ALLENDALE, MI – A Grand Valley State University student who was found dead on campus in December died of hypothermia.
An Ottawa County medical examiner determined that Taylor DeRosa, 18, died of hypothermia with alcohol a contributing factor, a GVSU spokeswoman said Thursday, Jan. 28.
The death has been ruled accidental.
In a message to students, GVSU President Philomena Mantella wrote: “Taylor’s death is a terrible tragedy for her family and all those close to her. We know her fellow students, as well as our faculty staff, have been affected. We are a caring community and our hearts go out to all who knew and loved Taylor.”
