Kolkata: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday imposed a 24-hour ban on West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh for violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), prohibiting him from campaigning from 7 pm on April 15 to 7 pm on April 16.
In its order, the Election Commission said after assessing Dilip Ghosh s reply to its notice, it is of the considered view that he violated the Model Code of Conduct by making highly provocative and inciteful remarks in his election speeches.

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday visited Cooch Behar that witnessed violence during the fourth phase of polling last week in which five people were killed including four in CISF firing.
The deaths, all in Cooch Behar s Sitalkuchi, sparked a political slugfest in the politically volatile state, with the ruling TMC and BJP blaming each other for the violence.
