15 years ago, it was hurricane katrina. This week. But theyve never seen the kind of scenario thats beginning to build up and start today. Round one is going to be the storm named marco. That is expected to impact the area starting this afternoon. And then, a couple of days later, in some cases, maybe only hours later, depending on where you live and the subsiding of the first storm, you get round two, which is expected to be hurricane laura. What is being done . Well, theyve done mandatory evacuations, in the areas outside of the flood protection system, thats coastal lowlying areas, jefferson parish, grand aisle. Given they fear for their lives. None of the people we have lked to came without a smuggler. So we read reports where they say about half of people dont use a smuggler to cross a border. We havent come across with that to be the case. That iher issue is lost the train of thought. H the train. When you look at the numbers, its perhaps might be one in four or five people who use the train. So the issue is not the train alone but the whole journey itself that gets people through the United States from mexico. Im a by product of the cold war. I left my country for political reasons and crossed the board in the 1980s. And train or no train, i was going to leave the country. So i think we are going through the same experiences today but in different circumstances. I think were going to have to call it a day. I want to thank you and your team for your report and the presentation today. Thank you very much for your bringing a different perspective than we usually discuss here. Thanks very much

Difference is we are 24 7 so that right now journalists dont have much time at all to go deep. There never was a lot of time to explore and be thoughtful but now it is all about breaking news. That is of big difference. There is also not a lot of opportunity for journalists to learn and grow and become more proficient and more knowledgeable. I think that is the difference now too. Was there something you heard from all even journalists that resonated why they left the profession . I think most of the mcnall of them said basically i wanted to do more and do less. Would you ever come back to journalism . If so what would you cover . I am not sure. I love writing, i love writing books. It is more likely i would do another book.
