Controversial People s National Party (PNP) councillor for the Papine Division, Venesha Phillips, criticised her own party on Monday, questioning whether desperate and mad politics were needed as Jamaica continues to grapple with its COVID-19 spike.
Her questions were posed to the PNP following a statement in which Opposition Leader Mark Golding suggested that it was the party s prompting that has brought the prime minister out from hiding .
Responding to Holness extensive presentation, Golding, in the PNP release, stated: I am glad that our prompting has finally brought the Prime Minister out from hiding. He has ignored our (the PNP s) proposals and said nothing much that is new, other than belatedly enacting the requirements for incoming passengers to have a negative COVID-19 test result before travelling. The Opposition has been urging the Government to enact this requirement for many months, he stated.
