Just after 11:00 A.M. on Sunday, Kent County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the 6000 block of East Amber Dr. on a child custody dispute. While on scene deputies noted several live and deceased animals. Animal Control Officers were summoned to help, where 27 live reptiles, including Boa Constrictors, Pythons, Corn snakes, Tree snakes, Tarantulas, an Apricot Pacman Frog, and a Tegu were taken from the home. 10 deceased snakes were removed also from the home.  Animal Control Officers contacted the John Ball Zoo for help and their staff responded to help care for the remaining reptiles. Kent County Animal Control continues to investigate and will have the case reviewed for possible charges. The KCSO is very appreciative of the partnership with the John Ball Zoo and their staff assisting over the weekend. 

Watertown Police Arrest Resident for Animal Cruelty

WATERTOWN — On October 12, 2023, Watertown Police arrested Justin Kontout, DOB 2/23/82 of 80 Park Ave., Oakville, charging him with cruelty to animals.
