Marietta City Schools’ teachers are next looking to the district’s board of education for ratification of the tentative union contract.
On Friday, the Marietta Education Association voted in the auditorium of Marietta High School to ratify the contract, 108 for, 12 against.
According to the Association President J.D. Benson who also serves as the Marietta Middle School choir director, the vote by the association now sends the contract to the district’s leadership.
The association has a membership of 158 but required in-person attendance for votes to be counted last week.
Renaming
The Marietta BOE also did not address last week possible new names for the intermediate grade school to take over the present middle school grounds in the fall, meanwhile reorganization talks continue as teachers are identified for grade levels, and retirements continue alongside position changes and eliminations.
