Good afternoon. I am kenny choi. And i am michelle griego. The train derailed on to i5 in tacoma, washington, south of seattle. Authorities say at least 77 people have been taken to local hospitals. Meg oliver reports on this developing story. Reporter amtrak train 501 was making its inaugural run out of a new station in tacoma, washington, when it suddenly jumped the tracks monday morning, about 40miles south of seattle. Adrian thompson was on his way to visit his mother, working on his computer when the disaster struck. I heard a lot of turning and rocking of the train all of sudden. I grabbed onto the train in front of me. My laptop went flying, phone went flying. People were screaming. It was crazy. Reporter the derailment left cars dangling off the bridge and on i5 below. Dramatic images show cars crumpled on top of each other on the road below the track. We had to kick out the emergency window. The emergency doors were not functioning. There were multiple people injured. Luckily

Only stone work and a water heat remember still standing. Theres a lot of homes in and around small roads tucked into the mountains, and so the challenge is protecting those. And the challenge is getting in there and starting to build line around the fire. Reporter and in the town of mariposa, this should be high season with parking lots and hotels packed with tourists headed for yosemite. Instead, the old gold rush town looks more like a ghost town. Theres a fire that started on sunday on the ridge. And then we got evacuated from that ranch and ended up staying at the best western and went to yosemite, went hiking, came back and that evening, we got evacuated from here. We couldnt come back to our hotel so we had to be taken down to fresno to get a hotel room. Reporter tonight the concern once again is keeping the

Well, the first crab boats are already back at the dock as commercial crab season is now under way. Crews looking to rebound from last years abbreviated season and our chief meteorologist paul deanno is live on pier 45. And the boats have been unloading the catch all day, paul. Reporter yeah. We are catching crabs on november 15 right in the shadow of famous restaurants like aliotos and scomas and something tells me some of these crabs will be head there is perhaps as soon as tonight p day one of crab season a success. Reporter we first learned about Alameda County watered board member earlier this week while reporting on rate hikes in his district. You have taken more trips than anyone else in the district and ratepayers want and the explanation for that from you. As a board member, i have been involved in a number of Water Activities from the state representing the Alameda County Water District. Reporter but nine conferences in the last two years . Including one at a disney land rye sort . Ratepayers have seen their bills go up 30 over a number of months. They want concrete examples of what they are getting out of this, whats the value of you coming here. I have just attended a series of meetings. There are opportunities for building some additional water links. It is to be my hope that we could find a water source that does not rely on the tunnels.
