Police in one northeastern Ontario town have charged three dozen people including 23 at a house party with contravening COVID-19 restrictions under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA).
Kirkland Lake OPP say a May 1 protest held at Kinross Pond led to eight people being charged with Individual – Fail to Comply with a Continued Section 7.0.2 Order, contrary to section 10(1) of the Reopening Ontario Act (ROA).

A week later, on May 8, police conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 112 in Otto Township stopped a motor vehicle containing four individuals from different households. Police say they were travelling for non-essential purpose in contravention of the EMCPA and all four were charged with Individual – Fail to Comply.
