Havana, Apr 30 (Prensa Latina) Immunology has been pivotal in Cuba during this year for fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP). Dr. Consuelo Macías, MINSAP´s head of the National Immunology Group, explained that the immunology greatest impact has been related to coronavirus diagnosis and treatment, which includes development of technologies for detection, presence of antibodies in Covid-19 patient and titers after immunization, as parts of clinical trials.
She also added that anti-inflammatory biotechnological products have been introduced in the treatment of patients with moderate, severe and critical coronavirus symptoms, in addition to the use of interferon as antivirals since the onset of the disease.
