The popular Aberdeen attraction is one of four centres around Scotland to receive the cash boost. Reopening at Tramsheds on Constitution Street following a £6 million refurbishment, the ASC was forced to close due to current Covid-19 restrictions. Bryan Snelling, ASC chief executive officer, said: “Science centres and STEM learning continue to be of the utmost importance, and I am delighted to see this has been recognised by the Scottish Government.

The free event, which takes place during British Science Week 2021, will run from 11am on Saturday, March 13, until 11am on Sunday, March 14. It will include hourly activities (with a break for bedtime) for children aged 6-12 years old. With parental support, the activities will also be suitable for younger children. The aim of the event is to help families and groups participate in a range of fun and educational STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) activities that can be carried out in their own homes.

Before and After: New video shows scale of transformation at Aberdeen Science Centre Images capturing the before and after transformation of the Aberdeen Science Centre have been revealed. The centre in Constitution Street, which was shut for two years to allow for a major refurbishment to be carried out, welcomed back members of the public for the first time in November last year. They include RoboThespian, a chatty humanoid robot, and the OPITO Theatre of Energy, a one-of-a-kind immersive experience featuring three interactive displays. Now the transformation of the state-of-the-art centre has been captured in a series of images by James Fisher Asset Information Services (AIS).
