president obama arriving in france for the g-20. the big story is greece, gamble with the global economy, and how could it cost the membership in the eu on this american morning. good morning to you. it is thursday, november 3. welcome to american morning. ali velshi is in stormy france. bad weather there. we will be talking to him in a few minutes about the g-20 minutes. stormy weather and stormy politics. up first, the scandal dogging herman cain s presidential campaign. growing larger this morning. associated press reporting that there is a third woman who accused cain of you wanted sexual advances when she worked for the national restaurant association. reports says she considered filing a complaint bunt didn t. cain for his part trying to stay on message. here he is facing reporters at an event in northern virginia. will he me say one thing. i m here with the doctors and that s what i m going to talk about. don t even bother asking me all the other questions th
[ applause ] this is their congress. it s not it s about them, not about us. what they want is a government that s honest, accountable, and responsive to their needs. a government that respects individual liberty, honors our heritage, and bows before the public that it serves. let s start with a rules package that the house will consider today. if passed, it will change how this institution operates. with an emphasis on real transparency, greater accountability, and a renewed focus on our constitution. our aim will be to give the government back to the american people. in seeking this goal, we will part with some of the rituals that have come to characterize
boehner said he and republicans want to focus on, part of what we ll see in the next couple of days are things that are symbolic and also strike at what republicans think they can do. tomorrow we expect the full reading of the u.s. constitution will take place on the floor. that isexceedingly rare. that s an intention to make whatever laws come forward in this congress be tied to the responsibilities and the legal authority in the constitution. so that s one of the things we heard play out during the campaign. next week, they will take what will ultimately be a symbolic vote to repeal the president s health care law. they have the votes in the house, certainly not in the senate. but it is, again, a step for republicans to say they are addressing things they heard when they were put into power. but much of today is about the symbolism. the passing of the gavel. when nancy pelosi wished boehner well, she did so after delivering remarks that in many ways were sort of a defense of
opposing that? that seems like a no-brainer. look, the way you the way you just described it, the risk the republicans have, they can t help themselves. a guy like cantor is going to really put a lot pressure on speaker boehner. there s no secret in washington that there s a rivalry between cantor and boehner. we ll see how that plays out. and the tea party factions who are more of a rigid view of the constituti constitution, look, the next thing to look out for is the state of the union speech with president obama. and really takingth republicans to task to follow his lead to be bipartisan. that s going to be the next test for speaker boehner. it s going to be a tug of war for sure. thanks so much. breaking news out of omaha, nebraska. police are saying two people
