Father, 47, and daughter, 26, drowned after being swept from harbour wall out to sea, inquest hears

A father and daughter drowned after they were swept out to sea in Cornwall from a harbour wall by huge waves, an inquest has heard.  Matthew Smith, 47, and Bonnie Smith, 26, were on the first day of a family holiday to Mullion Cove when tragedy struck on November 2 last year. Cornwall Coroner s Court heard Mr Smith and his three children had walked from their accommodation to the harbour wall that night. Eyewitnesses described the sea as boiling and savage , with powerful waves regularly crashing over the top. Ms Smith s brother Mitchell said his father and sister and her dog were walking ahead of him and his brother Oliver. He said it was getting dark, and they were using torches on their mobile phones to see.
