BRYAN, TX â The city of Bryan could not have imagined the heartache they would endure on August 13, 2012.
On that day, Brazos County Constable Brian Bachman was shot and killed in the line of duty. His death inspired his fellow officers to keep his legacy alive through what is now known as the Brazos County First Responders Association.
âWe noticed that the checks donât come in very fast from insurance companies and so forth, so we thought maybe we can get money to them a little quicker by starting this organization,â explained Constable Jeff Reeves, Brazos County Precinct 1 Constable.
ended up shooting the gunman and taking him into custody. several of the other officers that were responding began cpr on the constable. he was transported to a local hospital. those identified as far as casualties in the situation constable brian bachman was the constable who responded to the address. the reason for his response to that address is unknown at this time. we are still working trying to gather that information, but he has been pronounced deceased. his family has been notified, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the bachman family. another college station police officer has been shot in the leg. he is receiving treatment at a local hospital. his condition as i understand it is stable. we also had several two
local news reports is that this constable bachman may have been trying to carry out an eviction for this particular residence on fidelity just two blocks off the a and m campus. that s something the constable offices do in texas and some municipalities. sheriff deputies will go to serve eviction paperwork or to carry out the eviction. the constables do that here in the state of texas. we are reading from these reports that constable bachman was doing just that. he responded to this home to carry out an eviction, and that s when the shooting apparently happened. then in the moments following that a number of different police agencies on the scene, college station pd, texas a&m pd and a scene of chaos as you can imagine. the information is strick lig in, but trickling in, but the news horrific. we lost a member of law enforcement and a civilian member and member of the community down there,
