reporter: do you think republican control would mean that? like i said, i m democrat conservati conservative. whether it s about democrat or republican, it s about going to work. being out there, producing something, being proud of yourself, being proud of you re family and telling your family how hard you work and how hard you re working to try to make things right for them. you know, wolf, it s very clear that these voters believe that the change that barack obama brought isn t really working for them. they re concerned about big government. as you heard, from the hop owner, there s a lot more out there here in pittsburgh. and the enthusiasm gap between democrats and republicans i take it has been pretty evident to you in pennsylvania right now? yeah. it really is. barack obama s popularity is 37%.
candidate endorsed by the tea party and sarah palin pulls out a win. joe miller went to west pointe he has a yale law degree and he practices law in fairbanks and fought a very vigorous campaign. he beat up lisa murkowski on the fact she s a moreover conservati conservative. he is much more fiscally conservative. people criticize murkowski for not running an aggressive campaign in a year when incumbents are widely viewed as favorable. she took the high road but left a lot of charges that were unanswered because when palin endorsed joe miller, so came money from the tea party express. the california-based group and they did some very hard-hitting ads and murkowski tried to take that high road and didn t really fight back. this is a stunner out of alaska
the obama agenda, then vote republican, and and by and large, far and away, not only are republicans responding to that message, but independents overwhelmingly are leaning more to the right than they have been in several years. so it doesn t bother you to have voice like this making all the noise? i don t think they are the leading voices in the republican party. do you think sarah palin and michele bachmann should be talking about iq scores, really? how can your party exploit the issue by making fun of the tea party types? our party don t have to make fun of the tea party types what. our party needs to do is remind people of what the situation was when president obama took office and when the democrats took over in 2009 what the conditions of the country were that george bush left and what they had to do. i mean, president obama himself has said a lot of times he didn t come into office to do a stimulus package and to bail out the auto companies, but that s what george bu
jonathan capehart a writer for washington post. joan, i ve got to start with you. what do you think of ted olsen now, my friend, ted olsen and david boies, these two, the right winger and the conservative the conservative and the liberal have won this case. right. have brought this and it s heading towards the supremes. it looks like we ll see a broad decision interpreted here, the right to choose basically, same-sex marriage, liberty clause, 14th amendment live and well, equal protection, all the good causes that the gay community and its allies out there have sought all along. well, i m very grateful to ted olsen, okay, there you have it. just wanted to hear it. this should never have been a conservati conservative/liberal issue. the republican party made it the party of people who wanted to shut down civil rights. that should never have been, never true. ted olsen did a truly conservative thing in my opinion
it strikes me that this is a broad decision. this is the kind of thing that gets to the heart of the liberty clause, the right of every american to pursue happiness, if you will, to exert their liberty in this case and i have to ask you will this go to the supreme court? will it grab the attention of justice anthony kennedy or like the lawrence case and go in the direction of tolerance and equal treatment all the way? what s it look like? they certainly will try. that s been the game plan all along is get to the supreme court. what s going to happen nowsy think the issue is undoubtedly going to the supreme court, but will it be this case, or will it be a challenge to the federal defense of marriage act, cases further along in the federal pipeline from massachusetts, going through a district or a federal appeals court in massachusetts that tends to be faster than this ninth circuit in california. so it s a bit of a race now to see which gets to the supreme court first, and once it get
