SAUK CITY â Maybe you know his name, maybe you donât. You most likely know of his work.
Alfred Clas was born here in 1859 and had a hand in designing some of Wisconsinâs best-known and stunning buildings.
In Madison, his work includes the headquarters of the Wisconsin Historical Society, the Brittingham Park Boat House and the 10,000-square-foot home of John Olin in University Heights now used as the home for the UW-Madison chancellor.
Park Hall sits a few blocks west of the Wisconsin River in Sauk City and is one of the early works of architect Alfred Clas, who grew up in the community and designed some of the state s most iconic buildings.
